Interview with Project Runway model Matar Cohen

Check out my latest name interview! This time I interviewed model Matar Cohen – you know her from Project Runway and Models of the Runway.

Matar’s interview is awesome! Here’s one tidbit: Matar and her sisters all have names with water definitions because her parents loved that water represents “life, energy, purity and growth.” How cool is that?

Matar also had some great baby naming advice for soon-to-be-parents, talked about her favorite baby naming trend and she weighed in on the Twilight baby naming phenomenon. Matar also gave me some tips on handling my curly hair.

Finally, PROJECT RUNWAY is back! I know I’m not the only one anxiously awaiting this Thursday’s premiere.

I’ve noticed that clothing designers tend to be fashionable on the runway and off — their names are no exception. I’ve gathered some of the more interesting contestant’s names from the previous five seasons and put them up for your consideration.

Quite a few of these names are very fashion forward. How many AVIVA’s or SANTINO’s do you know? I’m guessing not many, but maybe you’ll meet one in the future now that the names have hit the runway.

My favorite names from these lists are NAZRI (has a beautiful flow to it), SIMONE (long-time favorite), JOHNNY (ridiculously common, I know, but it’s cute), MARILINDA (nice mix of two common names) and NORA (sweet and simple).
