Interview with Project Runway designer Peach Carr

Photo: Barbara Nitke/Lifetime Television

This is the week of Project Runway here on the Baby Names Made Easy website. The show’s new season debuts this week and I’ve scored three Project Runway interviews in celebration! Whoo-hoo! I posted one earlier this week with the lovely model Matar Cohen. Today, I bring you designer Peach Carr. She’s a designer on this season – be sure to tune in and see how Peach does!

Peach was hilarious. She truly had me laughing out loud. The funniest story was about a trick she and her siblings used to play on their new babysitters. Peach also had some really sweet advice for parents-to-be and what they should tell their children about their names. Definitely check out her words of wisdom.

But that’s not all. I also have an interview scheduled this week with another designer competing on this season’s show – McKell Maddox. It’s quite an exciting week around here. J

Read Peach’s interview on my Celeb Interviews page!

Happy naming,

  Amanda

Interview with Project Runway model Matar Cohen

Check out my latest name interview! This time I interviewed model Matar Cohen – you know her from Project Runway and Models of the Runway.

Matar’s interview is awesome! Here’s one tidbit: Matar and her sisters all have names with water definitions because her parents loved that water represents “life, energy, purity and growth.” How cool is that?

Matar also had some great baby naming advice for soon-to-be-parents, talked about her favorite baby naming trend and she weighed in on the Twilight baby naming phenomenon. Matar also gave me some tips on handling my curly hair.

Read the whole interview on my Celeb Interviews page!

Happy naming,

  Amanda

There is some great food for thought in these lists. I enlarged my favorites – though narrowing it down to a handful of names was difficult.

Revilo P. Oliver is the most interesting name on the list because Revilo is Oliver spelled backwards. What do you think about quirky names like this?

Happy naming,

  Amanda

Top Models. Top Names?

Photographer Tiago Chediak

Photographer Tiago Chediak

The list of the top 10 highest paid models just came out. I love the International spin on the names that made the list. Tell me what you think.

Here’s the list in alphabetical order:

TOP PAID MODELS OF 2009

ADRIANA Lima – Brazilian

ALESSANDRA Ambrosio – Brazilian

CAROLYN Murphy – American

DARIA Werbowy – Canadian

DOUTZEN Kroes – Dutch

GISELE Bündchen – Brazilian – #1

HEIDI Klum – German – #2

KATE Moss – English – #3

MIRANDA Kerr – Australian

NATALIA Vodianova – Russian

SOURCE: MSNBC

Many of these names are relatively unique here in the U.S. – not unheard of (except for Doutzen), but not common either. My guess is that having an interesting name helps models professionally. That’s because a unique name helps you stand out – and that’s what advertisers want. They don’t want just a pretty face – they want a supermodel, a household name.

Do you agree or disagree that having a unique name helps models professionally? Let me know!
